Who may not acquire agricultural land?
Act 636 of 2023 bars a prohibited foreign party from acquiring agricultural land, with a resident-alien exception written in the act. Read the current code for the definition of a prohibited foreign party.
Act 636 of 2023 states that, except as provided in the resident-alien exception, a prohibited foreign party shall not acquire by grant, purchase, devise, descent, or otherwise any interest in agricultural land in this state. If agricultural land is held in violation, the circuit court shall order that the agricultural land be sold through judicial foreclosure.
